Bringing awareness to this invasive weed. I noticed one cute plant last year and thought I had a volunteer wild flower. This year it's everywhere. I started reading about it and learned that it's not cute at all. It will take over everything and no farm animal will eat it. Smells like turpentine and has a chemical taste. It also goes by the name "Globe Chamomile" but has nothing to do with the tea. Keep your eye out for it and get rid of it!

Wow, thanks for the update @lisa
Here are some effective ways to manage and prevent its spread:
Early Detection and Rapid Response (EDRR): Catching stinknet early is crucial. Monitor areas, especially after disturbances such as construction or fires, since these conditions are favorable for stinknet invasion.
Manual Removal: For small infestations, hand pulling or using tools like hoes can be effective, especially before the plants set seed. It’s essential to remove the entire plant, including the roots, to prevent regrowth.
Mowing: Mowing can be effective if done repeatedly throughout the growing season to prevent stinknet from flowering and seeding. It's most effective before the seeds mature.
Herbicides: If the infestation is extensive, herbicides might be necessary. Products containing pre-emergent herbicides that target seed germination can be effective. Always follow label instructions and consider the impact on non-target plants and the environment.
Mulching: Applying a thick layer of mulch can help suppress stinknet growth by blocking sunlight and preventing seed germination.
Land Management Practices: Maintaining healthy native vegetation can reduce the spread of stinknet. Practices such as reseeding with native plants and avoiding soil disturbance can enhance the resilience of the land.
Education and Community Involvement: Informing the community and organizing weed removal events can help manage and monitor stinknet spread effectively.
Combining these methods based on specific site conditions often yields the best results in controlling stinknet. Regular monitoring and adaptive management are key to preventing its establishment and spread.
i have been amazed at how quickly this weed has gotten established! I has basically displaced all the other weeds in our back yard. Thank you for sharing :)
